When a fire alarm is announced, the residents must evacuate to a safe place outside the building

Dear guest,
in the event of a fire alarm (whether by triggering the fire alarm or otherwise), the guests must evacuate immediately and line up en masse in a safe place outside the building.

After the fire alarm, the HZSCR (Fire Rescue Service) patrol checks whether all the occupants have left the premises of the dormitory building.
If any students stay in the dormitory and ignore the fire alarm, they will be fined up to CZK 5,000 by the fire inspector of the HZSCR (Fire Rescue Service).

Do we have to heed the calls to evacuate?

It also applies that citizens are obliged to obey the response commander’s call to leave the area or object in an emergency by the provisions of § 25 paragraph 2 letter a) of Act No. 239/2000 Coll., on the integrated rescue system. Disobeying the call means not only making the work of the rescue services more challenging but also endangering the health and lives of evacuees and rescue workers performing the intervention. If a person refuses to be evacuated, he is required by law to prove his identity, and administrative proceedings for an offense are subsequently initiated. A  person may be fined up to CZK 100,000 for refusing to evacuate.
